We found Karen and her team at Small Kitchen Big Taste through our venue, Smith Farm Gardens’ preferred vendor list, and I cannot tell you how glad we are that we did. Within five minutes of our tasting, I knew they were the real deal. Karen is beyond detail-oriented; she anticipates needs we hadn’t even thought of. She coordinated with our rentals, joined calls with our planner, and even helped finesse the aesthetic details I cared about, like bar and table décor.

And then there’s the food. Every dish was crafted with care, and there wasn’t a single thing she presented that we didn’t absolutely love. Since our wedding, countless guests have reached out to tell us it was the best food they’ve ever had at a wedding.

On the day itself, her team was flawless. Every detail was executed exactly how we envisioned, service was impeccable, and Karen went out of her way multiple times throughout the night to make sure my husband and I were cared for and happy..which, of course, we were. Not to mention, Karen is just an amazing individual, someone you truly want on your side during such an important day.

Karen and her team at SKBT were exceptional. We booked them for our 10-year vow renewal, and everything was truly perfect. Karen worked closely with us to customize the menu—from appetizers inspired by our travels, to signature cocktails honoring our two pups, to a five-course dinner that left us wishing there were ten. And the desserts were unforgettable.

We worked with Karen and her amazing team including her talented head chef Tess for our wedding in Summer 2024, and I literally could not recommend them more highly. We had a complex multi-cultural wedding and we wanted to do something special for our food, so floated the idea of Korean-style rice bowls with delicious mains and tons of vegetables and sauces to Karen. To our delight, she was super energized by the idea and SKBT did everything they possibly could to ensure that our food was absolutely phenomenal and unique, down to the tiniest of details. They also made their own vegan kimchi, which my Korean family complimented highly. Over and over again we heard from our guests how the food was the best they’ve had at a wedding, and one dear friend said, “this isn’t wedding food, this is HUMAN food” which is exactly what we wanted. Karen and SKBT are competent, creative, detail-oriented, and heartful professionals and we were so excited to work with them to give our loved ones the best meal we could with our budget. Holy Moly -- I love Small Kitchen Big Taste so much! They just did a party for us, which had about 90 guests and was an elevated backyard picnic. From the start of our relationship with SKBT, I knew everything was going to be amazing. Karen is a superb communicator as well as a creative and excellent chef and event planner. She helped me with all dimensions of the party, whether recommending DJ companies or working with the rental company and, of course, working out the menu and all the service needs. She fully got what we were hoping for, and our guests absolutely loved the food, which was fresh and beautiful and delicious. Everyone we have talked to complimented the food (and did so throughout the party) and told us how wonderful and lovely everything was. I also want to shout out Magdalena, who was the team leader the day of the party and is amazing as well. She is so hard working, thoughtful, and good humored, and she has a way of checking in with you that is kind and careful but so unobtrusive. She and Karen came over the day before, and we went over all plans; then when Magdalena showed up with her hard working and highly professional team, they hit the ground running and were superb from start to finish. The party unfolded seamlessly and with such care and elegance. When I walked into the kitchen about 11PM, when all was done, it was sparkling! (and all of the rentals were stacked and ready for pick up in the place we had designated in advance for them). If you want a fantastic event with food everyone will love and service that does not get better, SKBT is for you! Call Karen today! SKBT was an outstanding wedding caterer! We had a casual and intimate wedding at a family home in CT. Karen and her team understood our vision from the beginning and helped us plan a delicious menu that was mostly plant based -- we absolutely loved the food and our guests also commented on how delicious everything was.
