Owner, Chef, Head Cookie Maker
Karen has always been passionate about food, and events. Small Kitchen Big Taste grew out of that love, and started out as a blog about food in 2009… and the adventures that go along with cooking in a tiny kitchen! It followed her baking and cooking adventures and eventually landed us where we are today! There is nothing that gives her more joy than creating beautiful food, inspired menus, personal events, and lasting memories ... and that is our goal here at SKBT! When she’s not in at the shop, she’s hanging with her daughter Emilia (she's five) and other half Alex, or finding ways to support, encourage, and inspire/be inspired by other badass ladybosses in and around New Haven County.
Executive Chef, Flavor Goddess, Salty
Tess has a degree in culinary arts from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. She is classically French trained and honed her craft in New Orleans, and then New Haven. She loves big bold flavors and thinks food should be thoughtful, beautiful, and delicious. Hopefully through food, she can create happy memories and moments. Besides cooking, Tess loves UCONN Basketball, her boxer Kemba, and New Haven.
Sous Chef, Longest Standing SKBT Employee
Billy splits his time between SKBT as our longest standing employee and sous chef, and as a newly minted firefighter for New London, CT. He keeps us on our toes, and often is referred to as “the glue”. Even when we don’t want to admit it.
